I am a self trained Web design Amateur. Learning and Experimenting Online on HTML from 1999. When i started making pages, i collected animated gif like many other web designers of that age. The web is quite enhanced now, there is a lot more you can do. My older notes/sites on web design are long gone, i may not put it all back as it appears funny now. As far as apps are concerned, i am able to work with LAMP. I had tried and used phpbb, b2, mambo, pMachine and many more just to learn. I could even tweak PHP. I am an electronics engineer, not a programmer. I can write buggy code when need arises. Once when i was made to work on a VT-100 terminal VI editor on SCO Unix. The first thing i did was ASCII art, the Logo of the firm i worked in, using VI. That impelled the MD to move me to a 286 Windows 3.0 on a EGA Monochrome. I soon came back to my Soldering Iron, but never gave up on using computers the way i want. When i started on my own, the PC i built for myself was a 386DX probably 33 Mhz. You could add a Math Co-processor in these if you could afford it, if i remember right. It could boot in Windows 3.1 and Sco Unix. I even built and sold some. This was risky, as every 3 months a more powerful pc hardware would arrive. Now things have almost saturated. New Technologies in Battery, HDD, Flash, Wi-Fi, LCD and Semiconductors have made Portable Computers more important that ever before. Now its Windows XP, Redhat Linux & Ubuntu. Credits and Thanks My work depends a lot on open source tools, freeware and free resources. I am sponging off the creative efforts of many developers and programmers. I am giving back by creating and putting back some of my own creative 'IP' online, even if its not that much. The Gears on the SAN Gear Logo comes from Ken Saunders Graphics at MouseRunner. Some Tools i use are below.... Grateful to DIY Enthusiasts all over the world, Especially US. Google Services make my Activity Sustainable with many free tools and blog hosting like Blogger. I am maintaining this sangear domain and content, may not add much ideas/ip anymore in public, archive is to help new users online. I envision, Wireless Mobile Low power computers ..Nettops, Netbooks and Tablets being commonplace for everybody and anybody, a dream that is possible. I also wish more applications and services come online. Where a program has both client and server components. To make it easy for the common man in terms of usability and also protect the hardwork of small firms/developers. Open Source becomes the most dominant way the main os or framework software is created and used. The app developers can choose to build open or closed apps on this platform. Finally a Layman must me able to buy a tablet pc/ netbook and internet service plan at an affordable rate. These devices can be lean hardware, webapp and webservice oriented. More with emphasis to education, study and communication and as Knowledge/Data terminals. Similar units for Business and office also.
